You can share your Tresorit files with anyone while still keeping your data secure.
There are two ways to share your content. Either by inviting people to collaborate or by creating a share link. Both methods are secure and easy to setup, but they have important differences.
Inviting collaborators
If you share a main folder or a subfolder with other people, the files will appear in their Tresorit folders as they do in yours.
- Only available for folders and subfolders.
- Ideal for groups of people who would like to collaborate on the same files together.
- Invitees can only access your files through Tresorit after creating their own account.
- Members of a folder can view, add, edit or delete files and folders depending on the role you assign to them.
Sharing with links
If you share your content using this method, anyone who has the share link can access your files. Even without a Tresorit account.
- Available for main folders, subfolders, and files.
- Ideal for sharing your files quickly.
- Links always show your most recent file version β thereβs no need to reshare files every time you make changes.
- You can set a download limit, an expiration date and a password to your links.
- Track downloads: enable access logs or require an email verification to identify recipients.
- This feature wonβt allow others to edit or add files and folders.
How does the sharing work?
When you share a main folder or a subfolder with collaborators a new key is created that requires both of your master keys. On the other hand, share links contain a key fragment used to decrypt a single file or folder. To edit and delete files, you need a Tresorit application and editor permission to the whole tresor.
Inviting members
You can choose from three permission when inviting someone to collaborate in a main folder or a subfolder. Managers can read, change and re-share files, Editors can read and modify content while Viewers can only read files.

All invited members who have a Tresorit account will receive an automated invitation email to view your secure online folder.
To those who havenβt joined to Tresorit yet, you will have to send the invitation manually and the access will be provided only after registration. Collaborators can access your shared tresor through Web Access, without downloading the Tresorit App.
