Track your shared links

This feature is available ✔️ for:
Role: Manager, Owner
Plan: Professional, Business, Business Plus, Enterprise
Plan (limited): With a Basic, Personal or Small Business, Business Standard plan you can only track the download dates of your links.

When you share your content through links, anyone who has access to the link can also view and download your content. In addition to the default link settings, Tresorit Solo, Business, and Enterprise users can track individual opens, providing an extra layer of security to shared content.

 

Keep control of your data

Keep track of content downloads and revoke your link if necessary. Through access logs, you can track useful information such as the date, IP address, and platforms used to download the content you shared. Additionally, when a user is signed in to Tresorit in their browser, you can also see their email address. Access logs are available for 90 days after the shared link is inactive (either expired or revoked). 

Track email addresses You can also require an email verification on Links from those who wish to download your content. These email addresses will be listed in your access logs as well.

How to enable access logs

As of now, you can only enable access logs when you share content – it’s not possible to start the tracking on links that were already activated.

  1. Select the content you want to share.
  2. Click Sharing and Members on the right panel.
  3. Click Share with link.
  4. Customize the security settings: set an expiry date, add a password or set a download limit.
  5. Check the box left of Access logs.
  6. Check the box left of Require email verification.

  1. Select the content you want to share.

  2. Tap the arrow on the right.
  3. Tap Create Link.

  4. Customize the security settings: set an expiry date, add a password or set a download limit.
  5. Tap the switch right of Access logs.
  6. Tap the switch right of Require email verification.

  1. Select the folder or file you want to share.

  3. Tap Share.
  4. Tap the Share Link icon.
  5. Customize the security settings: set an expiry date, add a password or set a download limit.
  6. Check the box right of Access logs.
  7. Tap the switch right of Require email verification.

  1. Hover over the content you want to share.
  2. Click Share on the right.
  3. Click Share with link.
  4. Customize the security settings: set an expiry date, add a password or set a download limit.
  5. Check the box left of Access logs.
  6. Check the box left of Require email verification.

Track and manage your links

Once you enable access logs, you will be able to track all downloads on your Links tab, where you can oversee all shared links and additional information like their expiry date and the download count.
You can continue to view this information even after a shared link is revoked or expired. Admins can enforce a 90 days retention period for the access logs of inactive shared links

🏆 Pro tip: If you need to, you can change link settings like open count, download limit and password at any time. Just select the link and click Link settings on the right panel. However, you can’t add tracking to already activated links.

Select a link and click Access logs on the right panel to view the download history. In addition to link opens, you can also see failed password attempts.

🏆 Pro tip: Double-check if you shared the correct password with others. If someone enters an incorrect password too many times, your link will be de-activated.

Advanced link tracking

Advanced link tracking is available for users on the Enterprise plan. It adds an extra layer of control on top of the already available detailed access logs.

With Advanced link tracking, you’ll be able to see if and when the link’s content was:

  • opened,
  • viewed,
  • downloaded,
  • or saved to Tresorit.

IP address and platform are also visible for these events.

Real time email notification for link tracking

Get notified immediately when someone access your shared content. By switching the Email notification toggle on for your link you will receive email notification with the most important details, right when the content was downloaded. Be aware of any (unauthorized) access right when it happens.
