Tresorit for Gmail is a Chrome extension. It lets you attach files to your emails from your computer or your Tresorit account as secure shared links and manage the documents you shared.
📝 Note: Once you install Tresorit for Gmail, it is only available in the browser where it was installed. If you sign in to Gmail in a new browser, it will not be available to you automatically.
How to install Tresorit for Gmail in Google Chrome and Firefox
You can install Tresorit for Gmail through the Chrome Web Store or the Firefox browser add-ons.
- Google Chrome
- Firefox
- Open the Chrome Web Store page for Tresorit for Gmail.
- Click Add to Chrome.
- Once you see a confirmation pop-up, click Add extension.
- Now that you’ve added the extension to Chrome, you can open Tresorit by clicking the Tresorit logo in the bottom of the Compose new message window.
- Sign in to Tresorit via the extension.
- And you’re done – you can start securing your email attachments!
- Open the Firefox Browser Add-ons page for Tresorit for Gmail.
- Click Add to Firefox.
- Once you see a confirmation pop-up, click Add. When you get a confirmation, click Okay.
- Now that you’ve added the extension to Firefox, you can open Tresorit in Gmail by clicking the Tresorit logo in the bottom of the Compose new message window.
- Sign in to Tresorit via the extension.
- And you’re done – you can start securing your email attachments!
Using Tresorit for Gmail
Attaching local files
- Click Attach local files.
- Select the file you'd like to share.
- Tresorit will upload the file to your storage and create a link.

Set the required access and security settings.
📝 Note: Depending on your subscription level, different options may be available to you.
- Insert the link into your email.
- Send the email, and you’re done!
Attaching files or folders from Tresorit
- Click Attach from Tresorit.
- Select the file you'd like to share from your Tresorit account.
- Tresorit will create a link for you.

Managing shared files
- Click View shared links.
- Select the file or folder you’d like to share, edit, or revoke.

To share an item:
- click the file or folder, then click Insert, or
- click ... to open the options menu, then click Insert link.

To edit the link's settings:
- click on the file or folder, then click Link settings, or
- click ... to open the options menu, then click Edit.
- To revoke a link, click ... to open the options menu, then click Revoke. You’ll see a pop-up message to confirm that you revoke the link.
