Shortcuts
Shortcuts are links that point to a file or folder, providing quick access to frequently used items.
Since Tresorit can only work with actual files and folders, syncing a shortcut will either generate an error or create a grayed-out .lnk file that cannot be opened.
Symbolic links
Symbolic links (or symlinks) are special files that act as pointers to other files or folders. For example, My Pictures, My Videos, and My Music may appear to be regular folders, but they're actually symbolic links that redirect you to locations deeper in your operating system's file structure.
Like shortcuts, symbolic links can cause issues if synced with Tresorit. To prevent errors and crashes, Tresorit automatically detects these links during sync. In some cases (such as standard symbolic links), the original file or folder is uploaded to the cloud. However, in most cases (such as NTFS junction points), the objects are excluded from sync automatically.
ℹ️ You can set up filters to exclude files from sync.
