Tresorit creates a few folders and hidden elements on your device to ensure secure and seamless synchronization. Understanding what these components do can help you use sync more effectively.
Tresorit
The Tresorit folder shows all your synchronized folders on your local or external drive. It is automatically created during the installation of the Tresorit desktop app and cannot be deleted or hidden.
- It serves as the default sync location.
- It lists all other synced folders that you have synced to different locations, for easy access.
- If you copy a folder into the Tresorit folder, it will not sync automatically. To start syncing a local folder, right-click it and select
Add to Tresorit.
.tresorit
Each synced folder contains a hidden .tresorit directory, which includes configuration data necessary for sync to function correctly. Within it, you'll find:
- Temp folder, where Tresorit temporarily stores new or updated files before moving them to their final location.
- Filters folder, which may contain sync filter files (roaming and local), if you've applied sync filters.
sync.profile
The Profiles folder stores your Tresorit settings and cache for that device. When you sync a folder, Tresorit stores its sync path in sync.profile and sync.profile.backup.
- These folders record which folders are synced, where they are located, and what selective sync settings (if any) are in use.
- If you delete these folders, your folders will be unsynced, sync paths will be removed, and you'll need to set up sync from scratch.
Tresorit Drive
Tresorit Drive is a virtual drive that allows you to browse and access your entire cloud content through your system's file browser.
