Syncing shortcuts
Shortcuts are links that point to a file or folder, providing a quick access to items you use frequently. However, Tresorit can only work with direct and exact data, which means that syncing a shortcut will result in an error message or generate an un-synced, grayed-out .lnk file that you are unable to access.
Syncing symbolic links
Symbolic links are special folders on your computer (like My Documents, My Pictures, My Music etc) that are not actual folders, but shortcuts to directories located deeper within the file structure of the operating system.
Similar to shortcuts, syncing symbolic links on Windows, Linux and Mac would lead to issues with the application. To avoid unexpected errors and crashes, Tresorit automatically detects these objects during sync. In some cases, the original file or folder is uploaded to the cloud (e.g. standard symbolic links), but some objects are automatically excluded from sync (e.g. NTFS junction points).
