- Choose the new folder you want to move your files to.
Why you need to do that?
We introduced next-gen folders to make subfolder share available and enhance the user experience.
📝 Note: All Folders created after December 2023. are next-gen folders by default
What to consider when moving files?
You need to be an owner, manager or editor in a folder to be able to move files around. If you are a viewer in a folder, you can see and download its contents but won’t be able to make edits or change the structure. You can check your permissions clicking at ‘Sharing and members’ in the context menu.
These actions break previously created shared links, active file request links, and eSign requests. You need to revoke all access and link to these items prior to the move action. Make sure that you create new links and send new invites once the content is moved to its new location to make sure access is granted for those who need it.
📝 Note: The folder's activity logs will not transfer to the new folder, but new logs will be generated once your files have their new location.
The initiator of the "move" will become the owner of all file version history entries in the new folder.
🏆 Pro tip: In case you move a large number of files we recommend moving them in batches and turn off sync before to avoid any interruptions and possible errors during the process.
