Tresorit allows you to store your files securely in the cloud without keeping them on your computer. However, automatic one-way backup (upload-only) is currently not available. Tresorit uses two-way synchronization, meaning that any changes made locally or in the cloud are mirrored in both locations.
If you want to keep your data only in the cloud, you'll need to manually upload your files and re-upload them whenever changes occur to keep your cloud data up to date.
- Upload with sync
- Upload manually
The most efficient way to upload large amounts of data to Tresorit is by using synchronization. Once the upload is complete, you can disable sync to keep only the cloud copy.
ℹ️ This method is only available in the desktop app.
- Make sure Tresorit is running.
- Right-click the folder on your local drive.
- Select
Add to Tresorit.
- Wait for the upload to complete (a green checkmark
on the cloud folder will appear).
- After confirming that all content has been uploaded, right-click the folder in Tresorit.
- Select
Turn sync off.
- Confirm with Disable syncing. You can also choose to delete the local folder right away.
You can upload files or folders manually to back them up.
ℹ️ This option is available on all platforms.
- Create a new main folder in Tresorit.
- Click
Upload.
- Choose Upload files or Upload folder.
- Select the items from your local drive.
- Wait for the upload process to complete.
- Remember to re-upload any updated files from time to time.
