Passwords are crucial in Tresorit β your password is the first step to generate the master key that can decrypt your files. Your Tresorit password never leaves your device, ensuring that no one can ever get a hold of it.
π Note: When we say no one, we really mean it. No Tresorit admin, hackers or government can access your data or account without your password thanks to the encryption method we use.
Recovering a lost password
Lost, forgotten or broken passwords can cause trouble because we do not store user passwords on our servers for privacy and security reasons.
If you lose your password, there is no way to recover it β you will have to reset your password to gain access to your account again.
However, the password reset function is only available if you are still logged in to Tresorit somewhere, or if you are a part of a Business Subscription where Advanced Control is switched on. You can start the process here.
π Note: If the mentioned options donβt work for you, you will have to reset your account, and you will lose all data stored in the cloud but can keep your plan and email address.
