Watermarking safeguards sensitive files shared via links. You can apply it to files and folders, and viewers will see the watermark in preview and after download.
Before you begin
- Watermarks can be added to new or existing links.
- In watermarked folders, unsupported file types are visible but cannot be opened or downloaded.
Supported file types
.pdf, .docx, .xlsx, .pptx, .md, .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .bmp
- Detailed access logs and Require email to view are turned on automatically. They can be configured at creation, but can't be changed afterward.
- Watermarked .docx files can only be downloaded as .pdf.
Supported video formats
.mp4 (H.264), .webm (VP8, VP9, AV1), .ogg (Theora)
- Video preview supports files up to 150 MB.
- Disable download is turned on automatically – watermarked videos can only be previewed.
Add a watermark
In the desktop app, you can only enable watermarking; to customize it, use Web Access.
- Open the link's Advanced settings.
- Enable Watermark.
- Choose what to display:
- Viewer's email address and timestamp (dynamic) – Viewers must verify their email with a code before accessing the file.
- Custom text (static)
- Click Customize layout and adjust:
- Text
- Font size
- Opacity
- Color
- Position
- Click Apply changes.
- Click Save settings to apply all changes to the link.
