Cooperative links are editable links that combine the functionality of shared links and file requests. They allow secure file sharing and collaborative editing in an encrypted environment – even with people who don't have a Tresorit account.
Before you begin
- Available only in next-gen folders
- Works with single files (not folders)
- Maximum file size: 5 GB
Admin controls
- Business admins can allow or block cooperative link creation in the Admin Center.
- If downloads are disabled by policy, cooperative links can't be created.
Create a cooperative link
ℹ️ Existing shared links cannot be converted into cooperative ones.
- Create a shared link.
- In the pop-up link window, change the option from can access to can modify.

Customize the link settings.
- Detailed access logs – always enabled
- Require email to view – always enabled
- Disable download – not available
- Watermark – not available
ℹ️ Enable Email notification to receive notifications whenever the link is opened or its content is updated.
- Copy the link URL or send it via email.
- The link will appear under
Shared Links, marked with a
badge.
Work with cooperative links
Recipients must verify their email address to access the content. They can then view and download the file, and upload a new version.
View and update a file

Open the cooperative link.
ℹ️ All file types supported in the online preview can be viewed directly.
- Click Download.
- Edit the file on your device.
- Open the link again and click Upload new version, or drag and drop the updated file into the version panel.
Manage versions
In the version panel, open the three-dot menu next to a version and select:
- Preview (when the file type is supported)
- Download
- Make it current (this creates a new version)
File version handling
- The uploaded file must have the same format as the original version.
- Available file versions depend on your subscription plan.
- File versions cannot be deleted from history.
- If a new version is uploaded while you are viewing the file, you will receive a notification. Refresh the page to see the latest version.
