What is a cooperative link?
Cooperative links merge the functionalities of shared links and file requests, allowing you to share documents and collaborate on them with others even if they do not have a Tresorit account. Share and receive files with one end-to-end encrypted link. Download, edit, and reupload new file versions in one secure place while maintaining visibility into file history, and access previous versions with ease.
How to create a cooperative link
- Select the file you want to share
- Click Share
- In the link settings menu change the option "can access" to "can modify"
- Customize the security settings: set an expiry date, add a password or set a download limit.
📝 Note: Detailed access logs and Require email to view cannot be disabled. Disable download cannot be turned on. Watermarking is not available.
- Click Copy link or send it directly using a mail program
Working with cooperative links
Recipients must verify their email address to access the contents of cooperative links. After opening the link, you have the option to view the file, download it or to upload a new version.
To update the shared file:
- Open the cooperative link, click Download
- Edit the file on your device
- Open the link again and click View & Upload
📝 Note: The name and file format of the uploaded file must be the same as the original file.
- Click Upload new version or drag & drop the file into the version panel
You can use the version panel to manage the versions of the file. You can preview, download or make previous versions current:
Tips and tricks
When creating cooperative links, we recommend enabling Email notification under Advanced settings. If this setting is turned on, the link's creator will be notified via email whenever the link is opened or its contents are updated.
If you are previewing a file and someone uploads a newer version via the link or using the Tresorit application, you will receive a message and you can refresh the page to see the newest version:
