When you receive a Qualified Electronic Signature request the sender requires to use Evrotrust to verify your identity and then sign your documents. Evrotrust is an European trust service provider who identifies the signer of a document.

Signers don’t need to have a Tresorit account, but they can skip the e-mail verification part when they open the request if they log in to their account in the webclient. It is recommended to start the signing flow on desktop, and a mobile device will be necessary for the identification process.
Before you begin
Complete the following steps before signing with Evrotrust for the smoothest signing experience:
- Download the Evrotrust mobile application to your mobile from your from the App Store / Google Play Store
- Register to the Evrotrust mobile application, as described in the Evrotrust Registration Demo video. For the identity verification process most ID cards and all EU passports are supported. For additional information please visit Evrotrust’s list of supported countries and documents page.
🏆 Tip: For best result we suggest using your passport to verify your identity, as all EU passports are supported by Evrotrust.
- After successful identity - and phone number verification a supervision process will be concluded by Evrotrust before you are able to sign QeS documents
The signing process step-by-step
- Open the link of your signing request and verify your email address (alternatively you can log in into your Tresorit account previously).
- Click Review document.
- Accept the Signatory terms.
- Click on the Start your review arrow.
- By clicking Setup your signature, you can add your Name/Initials/Signature, and choose a style for your signature and initials. Then click Apply.
- Once you have filled all assigned fields, you’ll need to select ‘Proceed to signing’.
- A notification will appear that informs the signer that the requested signature is an eIDAS compliant Qualified electronic Signature, and in order to sign the document, the signer’s identity needs to be verified. Please click on Continue. The Trust Service Provider requires either your phone number or your e-mail address to identify you. After adding them, click on Continue to sign.
- Two scenarios can happen based on whether the signer already has an Evrotrust account or not:
- Without Evrotrust account
- With Evrotrust account
If Evrotrust cannot find an existing account of the signer after they entered their phone number/email address, the signer will be asked to install the mobile application. Then the following task should be performed within the mobile app to register and to go through the identity verification process:
- Setup a PIN and a password
- Scan the ID/passport of the signer
- Create a video selfie
- Verify the phone number & e-mail address
Please note:
Once the signer starts the identification process by clicking on ‘Proceed to signing’ they will not be able to review the document unless they close the Evrotrust window which opens on the top of the document. If they choose to restart the process they need to enter their phone number/email address again.
The signer needs to go through the account creation and identity verification process only once, before the first signing with qualified electronic signature.
Main steps of the identity verification process
- Following the successful installation of the mobile application, the signer has the option to activate push notifications, to receive notifications about signing requests.
- Prior to proceeding, the signer is required to acknowledge and accept EvroTrust's terms of use.
- The signer needs to setup a PIN code and password for the application.
- Capture of the ID/passport is essential, and the signer may utilize NFC technology for document scanning.
- The signer is required to furnish personal data, with the system automatically populating the relevant fields when utilizing NFC.
- The signer is obligated to complete a video selfie.
a. Upon successful verification of the video and provided data, the signer attains verified status and progresses to the supervision phase.
b. If the system is unable to identify the signer, the signer will be prompted to undergo a remote video identification session facilitated by an administrator.
- Next step is confirmation of telephone number. Additionally, the signer will receive an email to verify their email address, a process that can be deferred and completed later within the application's Settings -> Profile menu.
- The supervision process will start then, typically lasting a few hours, during which no action is required from the signer.
- Following the completion of the supervision process, the user will receive both push notifications and an email confirming the successful completion of supervision, thereby granting authorization to sign the document.
- Once they complete the signing process in their Evrotrust app, the verified signature is applied on the request. They can download the document immediately or from the same Tresorit link later.
- In the event of unsuccessful supervision, the process must be initiated again.
a. It is possible that If the process fails Evrotrust would require additional actions from the user, for example scanning their documents again.
- If Evrotrust can find an existing supervised account of the signer, the signer will be asked to proceed with the signing procedure within the Evrotrust mobile application. The signer will find the documents in pending status and can either Sign or Reject the signing of the document.
- Once they complete the signing process in their Evrotrust app, the verified signature is applied on the request. They can download the document immediately or from the same Tresorit link later.
