In case the subscription owner purchases a plan or starts a trial of an eSign plan on or after March 28, 2024, they will utilize the newly introduced eSign plan. Plans purchased or trialed before March 28 will adhere to the subscription rules of the Legacy eSign plan; please refer to them here.
Legacy plan users who wish to utilize the qualified electronic signatures need to contact support, cancel their existing eSign plan first, and then subscribe to the new eSign plan.
The new eSign plan is available for Professional, Business, and Enterprise users.
Licenses
In the new eSign plan, the eSign add-on can only be utilized if the subscription owner purchases licenses for the users. Although new users can be invited later to the subscription as well. The new eSign add-on contains two types of features: electronic signatures and qualified electronic signatures. By purchasing licenses for users, they are enabled to use both features: electronic signatures and EU qualified electronic signatures. The licenses have a recurring price of 5 EUR/month per user. The purchased licenses enable users to create electronic signature requests with their purchased signature quotas.
Note: The number of purchased licenses can never exceed the number of users in the main Tresorit subscription.
License Assignment
Licenses can only be assigned by the Admin. In order to assign licenses to users, the Admin needs to visit the 'Users' tab in the Admin center. By toggling the eSign switch next to the user’s name, the Admin grants a license to the user, enabling them to create electronic/EU Qualified electronic signature requests. Licenses can be reassigned anytime during the eSign plan subscription period to another user.
Signatures
Once the Admin purchases licenses for the users in the subscription, the users are enabled to use the electronic signatures and EU Qualified Signatures that the Admin bought. Signatures need to be bought separately from licenses. Without licenses, the signatures cannot be used. The signatures have no expiry date; they can be used until the subscription exists, and they have a one-time cost.
The price of one electronic signature is 0.3 EUR, and the price of one EU Qualified electronic Signature is 2.5 EUR.
Signatures can be bought separately from each other and from the licenses. Signatures belong to the subscription, they cannot be allocated by users. Once the signature quota is used, another amount needs to be purchased; otherwise, signing requests cannot be created.
Cancellation
If the Admin decides to cancel the eSign plan, the licenses will be revoked from the users. The formerly purchased, but not yet used signatures will not be taken away from the subscription, so if the Admin decides to restart the eSign plan, the subscription will be able to utilize the remaining number of signatures from previous purchases.
New Tresorit Trial with eSign Add-on
In the new subscription form, if the subscription owner starts a new trial with a new Tresorit plan on or after March 28, 2024, the eSign Add-on will automatically be added to the trial. That means the subscription receives 10 electronic and 6 EU Qualified electronic Signatures to use free of charge. The eSign add-on trial is not time-limited; the subscription can use this number of signatures until their quota is used. However, during the trial, during the 14-day Tresorit trial period, it is not possible to buy signatures. To buy an extra amount of electronic or EU Qualified electronic Signatures, the Admin needs to have a paid Tresorit subscription.
Newly Purchased Tresorit Subscription with Free eSign Add-on
Any newly purchased Tresorit main plan contains the eSign add-on free of charge, with 10 electronic and 6 EU Qualified electronic signatures. These signatures are valid for the whole subscription, not per user. The Admin is able to purchase licenses for the users and additional signatures of any kind.
Increasing the Number of Licenses within a Subscription
If the Admin wants to increase the number of eSign licenses within the subscription, he can do so, but only to those users, who already has a Tresorit seat.
If the Admin would like to increase the number of users within a subscription, they are able to do so by inviting additional users to the subscription. The Admin is able to assign eSign licenses to the users within the same process for the newly invited users.
Decreasing the Number of eSign Licenses within a Subscription
Downgrading of the eSign licenses is available at the end of the service period. Currently, Admins cannot downgrade purchased license numbers through self-service; we suggest contacting support for this purpose.
Displaying available signature quota
The free available signature quota (10 electronic, and 6 EU Qualified electronic Signature) is displayed in the Admin Center’s Dashboard tab.
All additional purchased signatures are also displayed on the same dashboard for Admin users on top of the free quota.
Users can review the available quota of the subscription from their Profile tab’s eSign dashboard section.
Billing and Refund
The new eSign plan’s service period is always aligned with the main plan’s service period, meaning if the Admin decides to purchase licenses halfway through the service period, the eSign licenses will have a prorated price, and the eSign plan’s period will be aligned with the main plan’s payment period. Downgrades can only happen at the renewal date, for which Support can provide assistance.
