You can rename files and folders to keep your Tresorit storage organized. Available actions depend on folder permissions.
- A main folder can only be renamed by its owner.
- Members can rename shared main folders in their own view, but the change will not be visible to others.
- Subfolders and files can be renamed by any member except Viewers.

Files and subfolders
- When you rename files or subfolders, the new name is automatically updated across all platforms, in shared links, and in synced folders.
- Links and file requests that point directly to the renamed item continue to work, but display the original name. To see the new name, create a new link.
Main folders
- If you rename a synced main folder in Tresorit, syncing continues, but the local folder keeps its old name.
If you rename the synced folder locally, the sync path breaks, and Tresorit shows a sync error.
To keep the same folder name everywhere:- turn off sync, rename both folders, and then start syncing again, or
- keep syncing, rename both folders, and then fix the lost sync path
- Existing links and file requests remain active, but with the original name. To display the new name, create a new link.
