Account transfer is available ✔️ for:
Plan: Business, Enterprise
For security and technical reasons, it's not possible to change the name or email address linked to your Tresorit account because these are included in security certificates that protect your data.
If you need to switch to a new email address and are part of a Business or Enterprise subscription, you can use our account transfer feature to move your content to a new account.
Requirements and limitations
- The account transfer can only be initiated if the new account is already part of the same subscription as the current account.
- Both the current and new accounts must belong to verified domains. Subscription admins can verify email domains in the Admin Center.

- Account transfer is also available to owners, co-owners, and co-admins. However, only data will be transferred – admin roles are not included. Admin privileges must be revoked from the old account and reassigned to the new one.
- For technical reasons, if Single Sign-On (SSO) is already activated on the new account, the transfer will fail, and an error message will appear. Please temporarily disable SSO to proceed.
- If you sync content to your computer, sync paths won't carry over. You'll need to set up synchronization again on your new account.
Transfer your account as the subscription owner
- Ensure your email domain is already verified.
- Create a new Basic account using your new email address.
- Add the new account to your subscription.
- Transfer subscription ownership to the new account.
- In your old account, navigate to the Profile page and click Start transfer under the Transfer account section.
- Authenticate your old account by entering your password and clicking Next. If two-factor authentication (2FA) is enabled, enter the verification code and click Continue.
- Enter the email address and password of your new account, then click Next. Complete two-factor authentication (2FA) if it's enabled.
- Confirm the transfer by reviewing the source and target email addresses, then click Continue to start the process.
- Monitor the transfer. You can optionally revoke other devices and web sessions (your current web session will remain active).
- After the transfer, you'll see a list of folders that couldn't be moved (ones tied directly to the account). Click Done to close this window or Show not transferred folders to navigate to these folders. Manually download and upload them to your new account.
- Log in to your new account and verify that all data has been moved successfully. Transferred folders will appear under the Transferred section, labeled with your old email address.
- Once everything is transferred, you can delete your old account.
💡 Important: To prevent data loss, double-check that all content has been transferred or downloaded and no important data is left in the old account.
Transfer your account as a subscription member
- As a subscription member, you must first contact your administrator to send a subscription invitation to your new email address.
- Accept the invitation and create an account with the new email address.
- Then, follow steps 5-10 from the guide above to transfer your account.
- Once the transfer is complete, ask your admin to delete your old account.
💡 Important: To avoid data loss, double-check that all content has been transferred or manually downloaded and no important data is left in the old account.
